What is this book?
Each lesson follows the same seven-part pattern, which is printed on the contents page for every lesson: Tafheem (understanding the text, with word meanings, questions and answers and multiple-choice questions), Bahami guftagu karein (talking about the topic), Aaiye lafzon ka khel kheleen (word games), Zaban dani seekhein (grammar), Parhein aur yaad rakhein (reading and memorising), Tehqeeq karein (finding out and writing) and Amli kaam karein (a practical task).
The same pattern in every lesson means a child always knows what comes next, which is helpful for eight-year-olds.

What the skills ask the child to do
For example, in lesson 1 (Hamd) the child talks about the garden scene, finds synonyms, reads the poem with rhythm and recites it, writes sentences from a picture and gives a short speech. In lesson 2 (Naat) the child learns antonyms, reads comprehension questions, writes a sentence on their favourite vegetable and colours a picture. In lesson 3 the child learns the difference between the letters noon (ن) and noon ghunna (ں), singular and plural, and reads a passage with correct pronunciation. In lesson 4 the child talks about mobile apps, learns masculine and feminine forms, writes about a holiday, and finds ways to save gas. In lesson 5 the child uses pronouns and learns to retell a story.
Poetry and reading lessons
Lessons 1 and 2 are poems (a hamd and a naat) and lesson 6 is for reading only, with oral questions and a reading skill to follow. Poems are best learned aloud, a line at a time, in a calm voice.
Helping at home
Read each lesson aloud together, let your child read a paragraph, and ask them to tell the story back in their own words. Learn the poems by heart, one couplet at a time. Use the word games to make a small quiz, and let your child write the answers to "tehqeeq karein" in a notebook.
Why this book?
