What a Class 5 child practises
Across the 23 lessons a ten-year-old reads longer passages and poems, answers comprehension questions and multiple-choice questions, practises word building and rhyme, and meets grammar in small steps: for example opposites, pronouns, conjunctions, the signs of the subject and object, and punctuation marks. The writing tasks grow from sentences to a story from a picture, an application, a letter, an invitation, an e-mail and an essay. The practical tasks ask the child to speak, role-play, make a chart or read a notice.
Topics and values
The lessons mix praise of Allah and the Prophet ﷺ, Pakistani customs and festivals, the national anthem, service to humanity, honesty, caring for the environment, science, folk tales (Sheikh Chilli), poems by Allama Iqbal and stories with a moral. That mix keeps a ten-year-old interested while building character and vocabulary.
Four parts, four reviews
The book is divided into four parts, each ending in a review (جائزہ). Use them to look back at poems learned, new words and grammar before the term test.
Helping at home
Read each lesson aloud together, let your child read a paragraph, and talk about its meaning. Learn the poems one couplet at a time. For the writing tasks, let your child plan three points first, then write. Praise neat handwriting and complete sentences. Make the cover game real: write a grammar term on a card, ask your child to "catch" the card and use that kind of word in a sentence.
Why this book?
- 23 lessons with a clear seven-part pattern.
- Poems, stories, science and values in one book.
