Making fractions and decimals feel real

Fractions and decimals are the two hardest ideas in Class 4. Use money for decimals (Rs. 12.50 is twelve rupees and fifty paisas) and food for fractions (half a roti, a quarter of a pizza). When a child can say a fraction and a decimal for the same amount, both ideas become friendly.
