What is this book?

At nine years old, a child reads Paras 9 to 18 of the Quran, learns more surahs by heart, and studies belief (angels and heavenly books), worship (fasting, the rights of Allah and recitation), the seerah (first revelation, calling to Islam, the migration to Abyssinia, the valley of Abu Talib, the year of sorrow and the journey to Taif), manners, honesty and the lives of four prophets and caliphs.

How the seven chapters fit together

1. The Quran and hadith build reading, memorising and daily supplications.
2. Belief and worship explain the angels, the heavenly books and fasting.
3. The Prophet's life follows the hard early years in Makkah.
4. Manners teach simplicity, manners of gatherings and punctuality.
5. Dealing with others covers honesty, the rights of people and love of the homeland.

Telling the seerah as a story

The Class 4 seerah chapter has hard moments: the first revelation, trouble in Makkah and the journey to Taif. Tell each as a short, calm story, and always end with what the Prophet ﷺ taught us: patience, mercy and trust in Allah. Ask your child what they learned from each story.

Memorising three short surahs

Al-Maun, Al-Kafirun and Al-Lahab are short. Learn one at a time, a line a day, and say the whole surah on Friday. Praise correct pronunciation more than speed.
