What is this book?

Big Science is a science series from Pearson for English-medium primary schools. Every unit starts with a big question that the child tries to answer by the end of the unit, such as How do animals adapt to survive?. This makes the book feel like an investigation, not a list of facts.

The Student Book is the main book of the series. It has nine units, each with a big question, and a glossary at the back with the science words of the year. The matching Workbook has the same units with practice pages and reviews.

In Class 6 science becomes more systematic. The nine units of Big Science 6 start with design and function (how technology makes life easier) and survival and extinction (how animals adapt), then study the body systems, water and weather, Earth's surface and Earth and space. The last three units, matter, forces and motion and energy, are the physical science that prepares a child for lower secondary.

The cover is part of the series style: a bold BIG in a different colour for each level, a smaller SCIENCE with the level number in a circle, a child looking up with curiosity and an animal or object that suits the year.
