What is this book?

Big Science is a science series from Pearson for English-medium primary schools. Every unit starts with a big question that the child tries to answer by the end of the unit, such as How do plants change and grow?. This makes the book feel like an investigation, not a list of facts.

The Student Book is the main book of the series. It has nine units, each with a big question, and a glossary at the back with the science words of the year. The matching Workbook has the same units with practice pages and reviews.

Class 4 science starts with technology and the design process, which is the right place to begin a year of experiments: design, test and improve. The book then goes to plants, living things, ecosystems and body and illness (the life science half), and then to Earth and weather, Earth and our universe, energy and its forms, and forces and motion (the physical and earth science half).

The cover is part of the series style: a bold BIG in a different colour for each level, a smaller SCIENCE with the level number in a circle, a child looking up with curiosity and an animal or object that suits the year.
