What is this book?
Big Science is a science series from Pearson for English-medium primary schools. Every unit starts with a big question that the child tries to answer by the end of the unit, such as How do animals adapt to survive?. This makes the book feel like an investigation, not a list of facts.
The Workbook is the practice book that goes with the Student Book. Its units follow the same nine titles and big questions, but the pages are for writing, labelling, drawing and testing ideas. It adds review pages after every third unit and a skills section at the end, so a child can check progress and practise science skills such as observing, measuring and recording.
The Class 6 workbook follows the nine units of the Student Book, with the same big questions: How can technology make our lives easier?, How does my body work?, What affects the motion of objects? and How is energy transferred and transformed?. It has 8 to 10 pages of practice for each unit, three review pages (28, 54 and 80) and a skills section on page 82 to train scientific skills.
The cover is part of the series style: a bold BIG in a different colour for each level, a smaller SCIENCE with the level number in a circle, a child looking up with curiosity and an animal or object that suits the year.
