Class 6 is the start of middle school, with a new rhythm of separate subjects and many more single-lined notebooks. Across the whole school list that we photographed (Early Years Stage 2, Pre I and Class I to Class X) the number of notebooks rises from 3 to about 10 or 11.

A Class 6 student moves between subject teachers and uses a notebook for each one. The register is a sturdier book that survives a full year of daily use. Parents who label the notebooks clearly in the first week avoid a lot of lost-and-found trouble later.
