Quick facts

What is this book?

In Class 2 a child moves from reading single words to reading short stories and writing simple paragraphs. We Learn English 2 is built around everyday themes: school, a day at the park, a race, colours, looking after the Earth, a diary, a letter from Murree, going places and a new girl in class. Characters such as Nasir, Nadia, Neha, Bashir and Taha appear again and again, which gives the book a friendly feel.

The contents page is a skills map. For each unit it names the reading skills (factual and inferential questions, sight words, character sketches), the vocabulary and grammar (naming words, articles a and an, plurals, adjectives, pronouns, prepositions, verbs), the writing tasks (a picture description, a story, a poem, a diary, a journal, an Eid card) and the oral work (discussion, role-play, poem recitation).

The text types are mixed: letters, poems, stories, informative pieces and diaries. Poems and rhymes such as Twinkle, twinkle, little star, Simple Simon met a pieman, The cat with a bat, Jack and Jill and I can see are listed in the units.
