What is this book?
Maths Wise 2 is the second step of the Maths Wise series. The octopus mascot of Class 1 returns on the cover, now with "1st" and "2nd" tags that remind children of ordinal numbers. The cover says the book is based on the National Curriculum of Pakistan.
The nine units follow a clear order. Whole numbers come first (14 pages). Then number operations are split into two units, addition and subtraction on pages 15 to 25 and multiplication and division on pages 26 to 36, so Class 2 children get a proper start with times tables. Fractions (page 37) and money (page 46) come next, followed by measurement of length, mass, capacity and temperature (page 52) and of time (page 68). The book ends with geometry (page 77) and data handling and probability (page 91).
At the back are a Review and Assess section (page 100, 20 pages) for tests, answers (page 120) and a glossary (page 127), which makes the book useful for homework.

The units in four groups
Numbers (unit 1, pages 1–14). Whole numbers are the base of the year, with place value and comparing numbers. It is a shorter unit than in Class 1 because children already know small numbers.
Operations and fractions (units 2 to 4, pages 15–45). Addition and subtraction (11 pages), multiplication and division (11 pages) and fractions (9 pages). The two operation units are shorter than a typical chapter, so each page counts: a child should practise a little every day.
Money and measurement (units 5 to 7, pages 46–76). Pakistani money, then length, mass, capacity and temperature in one unit of 16 pages, and time in a unit of 9 pages. These are units with many hands-on activities.
Shapes, data and review (units 8 and 9 onwards, pages 77–127). Geometry, data handling and probability, then the 20-page review, the answers and the glossary.
Why this book?
