What students should be able to do

Chapter 1, Plant systems. Explain the root and shoot systems, label a leaf, stem and root, define photosynthesis and write its word equation, explain why plants need minerals, describe plant respiration and compare it with photosynthesis, and investigate how wind, temperature, light and humidity affect transpiration.

Chapter 2, Human respiratory and circulatory system. Tell breathing from respiration, trace the path of air through the body, sketch and label the circulatory system, describe the heart, arteries, veins and capillaries, describe the parts of blood, and test how exercise changes the pulse rate.

Chapter 3, Immunity and diseases. Identify types of pathogens, explain the body's defences, name the three types of immunity, describe how diseases such as Hepatitis, COVID-19, Typhoid, Whooping Cough, Measles and Dengue are contracted and prevented, and suggest ways a community can protect itself.

Hands-on work

A pulse-rate experiment (sit, walk, run, and record each) makes the circulatory chapter real. Growing a plant in light and in a dark cupboard shows what photosynthesis needs. For immunity, a discussion about hand washing and vaccines helps children see why healthy habits matter.

How the book helps students study

The "Test yourself" questions are a quick self-check, the "Did you know?" boxes keep interest up, and the exercises after each unit give practice for tests. A separate workbook for Grade 7 exists for extra practice, but this listing is only the textbook.
