Quick facts

What is this book?

A primer is a very first book. Countdown Primer A is for the child who has just started school and cannot yet read or write numbers. It begins not with digits but with colours, matching pairs and shadow matching, then comparison (few and many, more, less and equal, some and all, hot and cold, whole and half). Only then do numbers 1 to 10 and 11 to 20 appear.

The order is slow and visual: shapes (part one) with cube, sphere, cone, cuboid, ovoid and cylinder, a chapter on patterns, then numbers 21 to 30 with missing numbers and before-after-between, then addition (one more, addition with zero, addition of numbers 0 to 9), subtraction (one less, subtraction of numbers 0 to 9, the concept of zero), shapes (part two) (square, rectangle, triangle, circle, pentagon, hexagon), time (all around the day, reading time, calendar), comparison part two and position.

The cover shows two children in a cardboard rocket, which suits the playful style of the book.
