What is this book?
Class 2 is the year of carrying and borrowing, times tables and the first fractions. Math Understood 2 puts these into seven units and, as in all Essential Series books, prints the student learning outcomes on the contents page.
Examples of outcomes: write ordinal numbers from first to twentieth, read numbers up to 999, add 2-digit and 3-digit numbers with carrying, subtract 3-digit numbers with borrowing, recognise multiplication as repeated addition, develop multiplication tables of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 up to 10 × 10, recognise division as successive subtraction, identify half, one-third and a quarter, use standard metric units of length (metre, centimetre), mass (kilogram, gram) and capacity (litre, millilitre), read time in five-minute intervals and use the solar and Islamic calendars.
The book is only about 100 pages, which makes the daily practice manageable.

Fractions and measurement (units 4 to 6, pages 49–87). Fractions (9 pages) are a first step. Length, mass and capacity (21 pages) are the longest unit in the second half, then time (9 pages).
Geometry (unit 7, pages 88–97). Shapes, lines, patterns and 3D objects. The glossary and answers follow.
