What is this book?
This is the Urdu reader of Class 2. At this age a child has learnt the Urdu letters and now reads whole lessons: short poems, a story from nature, the lives of heroes and a few lines of praise at the beginning of the book. The contents page names each lesson in Urdu, marks poems with "(نظم)" and reading-for-pleasure lessons with "(برائے مطالعہ)", and sets the review sections (جائزہ) in coloured rows.
The book begins, as Urdu readers traditionally do, with a hamd and a naat, and then moves to a lesson about the Prophet (peace be upon him) and children. After the first review it turns to a soldier hero, a poem about the night, the Quaid-e-Azam, jobs, a hill-station trip and water.

The lessons in groups
Lessons 1 to 5 – manners and learning (pages 1 to 32). Praise of Allah and the Prophet, the Prophet's love for children, a poem about kind words and a reading lesson on what small ants can teach us about hard work. Review 1 closes the block on page 33.
Lessons 6 to 10 – heroes, nature and work (pages 35 to 72). A brave soldier, a poem about the starry night, the Quaid-e-Azam, a lesson on jobs and a trip to the hill resort Nathia Gali. Review 2 is on page 73.
Lesson 11 – a habit for life. "Save water!" starts on page 75 and gives the child a simple everyday action.
Why this book?
- It matches the Single National Curriculum 2020; the cover states it in Urdu.
- It mixes poems, reading lessons and heroes, so reading never feels the same two weeks in a row.
- The reviews after every five lessons make it easy for the school and parents to check progress.
Who is it for, and when is it used?
Who: Class 2 children at Allied School and other schools that use AEP | Arvo Education Press books, and parents who help with Urdu reading and handwriting. When: from the beginning of the school year; the first review (page 33) is a good moment for a first test. How to use the page numbers: lessons 1 to 5 fill about 32 pages, so a class that reads one lesson in a week reaches Review 1 in about five weeks.
How to help at home
- Read the hamd and naat aloud together every morning; short poems build fluency.
- After each lesson, ask three questions in Urdu: who, what and why.
- For the lesson on the ants, ask your child to find other helpful insects and animals.
- Let your child copy a few lines from the lesson each day to improve handwriting.
- Use the lesson on water to start a family habit, such as turning off the tap while brushing teeth.
