What is this book?
This is the Urdu reader for Class 4. A child learns the language through short texts: poems, a lesson about a modern machine, lives of national heroes, a story by a famous Urdu writer and tales from the old masters. Each lesson trains reading aloud, new words, comprehension and writing, and each Jaiza (review) lets the teacher check a block of lessons before the next one begins.
The book opens with praise of Allah (hamd) and of the Prophet (naat), the traditional start of an Urdu reader, and the glossary (Farhang) at the end gives the meanings of difficult words.

Why this book?
- It is a full Urdu-medium reading course with poems, lives of heroes, a computer lesson and a glossary in one book.
- Four reviews let a school test the class every five or six lessons.
- It follows the Single National Curriculum 2020; the cover states it in Urdu.
Who is it for, and when is it used?
Who: Class 4 children at Allied School and other schools that use AEP | Arvo Education Press books, and parents who help with Urdu reading and writing. When: the whole school year. Reviews 1 and 2 (pages 45 and 93) are natural points for the first-term tests and Reviews 3 and 4 (pages 145 and 198) for the later tests. Why it matters: a child who reads Urdu aloud every day finds the English, social studies and Islamiat books easier too.
How to help at home
- Ask your child to read each poem aloud until it is smooth (hamd, naat, "Yeh mera watan hai", "Parinde ki fariyad", "Pani").
- Use the glossary on page 198 to look up new words together and use each in a new sentence.
- After a hero's lesson, ask what the person did for Pakistan.
- For the funny lessons, ask your child to retell the story in his or her own words.
- Practise handwriting by copying five lines a day.
