What is this book?
Big Science is a science series from Pearson for English-medium primary schools. Every unit starts with a big question that the child tries to answer by the end of the unit, such as How do people solve problems?. This makes the book feel like an investigation, not a list of facts.
The Workbook is the practice book that goes with the Student Book. Its units follow the same nine titles and big questions, but the pages are for writing, labelling, drawing and testing ideas. It adds review pages after every third unit and a skills section at the end, so a child can check progress and practise science skills such as observing, measuring and recording.
Class 3 science is learned by doing. The workbook gives every unit 8 to 10 pages of practice: the same big questions as the Student Book (What is science?, What is Earth made of?, What is matter? and so on), with pages for writing, labelling, drawing and recording what the child finds out. Three review pages (units 1–3, 4–6 and 7–9) work as term-end checks, and the skills section on page 82 gives extra practice in scientific skills.
The cover is part of the series style: a bold BIG in a different colour for each level, a smaller SCIENCE with the level number in a circle, a child looking up with curiosity and an animal or object that suits the year.
