What is this book?
Everything in this book is something a five-year-old will be asked to do that same day: greet someone, say a du'a before eating, stand for Namaz. That is why it is useful to learn it early, before formal Islamiat classes start in Class 1. The lessons are short, with simple words and pictures.

What each group of lessons teaches
- Beginning with the right words (lessons 1 and 2). The Ta'awwuz and the Tasmiyah, the words with which we begin recitation and many actions.
- Faith (lessons 3 to 6). Kalma Tayyabah, the declaration of faith; Surah Al-Ikhlas, a short surah that children learn early (it takes three pages here); the oneness of Allah; and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as Messenger of Allah and Seal of the Prophets.
- Good manners (lessons 7 to 10). Kind behaviour, the greeting "Assalamu Alaikum", the du'a and manners before a meal, and the manners of drinking water.
- Worship and du'as (lessons 11 and 12). Namaz, and the prescribed du'as for daily life.
Who is it for?
Prep students on the Allied School list, about five years old, and the parents and teachers who guide them. Because the book is in Urdu, it works best with a child who is beginning to read Urdu, or with an adult reading aloud.
Why this book?
- The lessons match what a child does every day, so they are used at once.
- Short, simple lessons suit the attention span of a five-year-old.
- It builds a base for the Islamiat books of Class 1 and above.
How to help at home
- Say the Tasmiyah together before meals and the du'a before eating.
- Practise the greeting with family members.
- Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas slowly and listen to your child say it.
- Stand next to your child during Namaz so they can watch and copy.
- Praise good manners when you see them.

Teaching Islamiat to a five-year-old
At this age, Islamiat is learned by hearing, saying and doing, more than by reading. A few habits make the lessons stick.
- Begin each short session by saying "Bismillah" together.
- Read one lesson aloud in simple Urdu, ask one easy question, and let your child answer in their own words.
- Learn short duas one line at a time over several days, and say them at the right moment of the day, for example before eating.
- Link each lesson to a daily habit, such as saying salam, washing hands or thanking someone.
- Keep the tone warm. A child who feels loved while learning about faith carries that feeling with them.
Keep each session under fifteen minutes. If your child asks a question you cannot answer, it is fine to say, "Let us ask your teacher or grandfather." That also teaches the child that it is good to ask.
